5 Reasons to Read The 5th Wave Series

SHARE

All three books in Rick Yancey’s The 5th Wave series will be out in paperback tomorrow, and we think it’s the absolute perfect time to binge the entire series. Whether you’ve seen The 5th Wave movie, or are brand new to the story, here are five reasons that this should be the next series you read.

1. The heroine is a total badass.

Even when most of the earth has been destroyed by five waves of destruction from aliens, Cassie will fight to find her brother, no matter what it takes. The best part about Cassie is that she has no extraordinary talents, no magical gift, she’s just a regular girl doing what she can to survive.

2. The story is set pretty close to the present.

We love science fiction that takes us to a completely new world, but there’s something about a post-apocalyptic sci-fi that’s not set too far from our own world. It makes it a little scary, tbh, but that’s what makes it an adrenaline rush to read.

3. It’s full of amazing quotes.

Yancey’s writing is absolutely beautiful, amidst all the action, romance, and adventure that takes place. We basically want a poster of every single quote!

4. It’s a life-changing read, even if you’ve seen the movie!

We live by the rule “the book is always better than the movie” and it rings true here! There is so much more action, character building, and in-world detail in the book–stuff you don’t wanna miss out on!

5. The adventure continues in a new series, coming from Rick Yancey next year!

Three more books are coming, starting in 2018! AP reports that author Rick Yancey promised “new characters, surprising twists” and “non-stop action.”
