What it means to be young, navigating and black… The Hate U Give Trailer is finally here!

The trailer for The Hate U Give is finally here and tells a story that many of us have been waiting for.

With current YA queen and all around amazing person Amandla Stenberg taking the lead role of Starr, and a supporting cast that is STACKED full of talent including Anthony Mackie, Issa Rae, Common and Regina Hall to name just a few, The Hate U Give is going to be a must see movie for sure.

Published only last year, the award-winning and New York Times #1 bestseller, follows a young black girl, Starr Carter, as she navigates both worlds of her predominantly black neighborhood and her predominantly white boarding school. Soon enough, her worlds begin to collide after she witnesses the shooting of her childhood friend Khalil by a police officer.

The trailer captures one of the many stories of what it means to be young, black, and navigating spaces. For Starr, what it means to be black in her own community means something completely different at school. While dealing with complex issues of race, police brutality, and systematic oppression, here we get a personal yet relevant story that will hopefully inspire other black teens trying to find their own voice through times where they may feel silenced.

The movie arrives in cinemas October 17 and you can start forming a line right behind us for your tickets.
