9 Books We Can’t Wait To Read This Summer

Summer is upon us—we can almost feel it! And with it comes a slew of new activities to pull us out of the long shadow of winter’s gloom—beach days (spent reading); lazy vacation days (spent reading); camping (and reading)…

Okay, so maybe our activity list doesn’t actually change much from season to season but there’s still a lot to be excited about—including a brand-new list of upcoming books we can’t wait to get our hands on. From contemporary to fantasy, romance to horror, these are 9 books coming out this summer we can’t wait for:

The Darkest Magic, book 2 in the A Book of Spirits and Thieves series by Morgan Rhodes

Morgan Rhodes

We love Morgan Rhodes’ new fantasy series and can’t wait for the sequel to arrive! Hypable called A Book of Spirits and Thieves “a modern day Outlander.” Do we need to say anything else?

A Book of Spirits and Thieves comes out in paperback on 5/17 and Book 2 (The Darkest Magic) hits stores on 6/28.

Highly Illogical Behavior by John Corey Whaley

highly-illogical

We love contemporary stories that are able to tackle some pretty weighty topics with humor and brightness. Printz award-winner John Corey Whaley creates characters who are real and complex in a truly authentic way, and Highly Illogical Behavior will burrow its quirky self right into your heart.

Highly Illogical Behavior is available 5/10.

A Torch Against the Nightbook 2 in the An Ember in the Ashes series by Sabaa Tahir

Ember

Did you miss THE fantasy book of 2015? The one on countless “Best Of…” lists? The book that had fans clamoring for a sequel as soon as they got to the last page? Well, now’s the time to discover what all the buzz is about. The sequel, A Torch Against the Night, comes out at the end of August so you have a few months to get wrapped up in this fantasy masterpiece that the Hollywood Reporter said “mixes The Hunger Games with Game of Thrones…and adds a dash of Romeo and Juliet.” Um, yes please.
