BookTube joined in and participated in Month 1 of #EmberReadAlong! Here are a few videos to add to your queue once you’ve finished reading or re-reading An Ember in the Ashes:

“I finally understand what people mean when they say that Sabaa Tahir is so good at making her characters and her readers suffer. What she pulled with that last Trial, that was the workings of a mastermind.” —Daria from FullofLit

“The feeling I felt reading Throne of Glass is literally how I felt reading this, and that gives me just warm and fuzzy good vibes inside.” —Mika from Mika Auguste

“I am so mad at everybody who didn’t push me to start this series sooner, because oh my god, this is just such an amazing book. It has a combination of all the things that I love.” —Isabella from throneofpages

“It’s one of my favorite series ever. I’ve been wanting to reread this forever, and if you watch my channel then you know that I love this series.” —Jocelynn from JocelynnReads

“This has been a series that has been so close to my heart.” —Jananie from thisstoryaintover

Hello, readers! I’m super excited to partner with @penguinteen to a read-along of AN EMBER IN THE ASHES by @sabaatahir! This story follows Laia and Elias, two people whose paths are intertwined as they try to change their fates under a tyrannical martial empire. As a lover of fantasy and action books, this series has been on my reading list for ages, and I’m so happy to finally begin! I am also always interested in immersing myself in texts written by diverse authors. There seems to be lots of important themes and character work involved within this series, and I can’t wait to delve right in. This week, we are reading the first thirteen chapters of EMBER! Scroll through to see the full schedule ☺️ Have you guys read the books? What are your (spoiler-free) thoughts? Feel free to comment below, or read along as well! #EmberReadAlong #PenguinTeenPartner

This is one of our favorite quotes from the series, too!

“Life is made of so many moments that mean nothing. Then one day, a single moment comes along to define every second that comes after. Such moments are tests of courage, of strength.”― Sabaa Tahir, An Ember in the Ashes . This is one of my favorite quotes from An Ember in the Ashes . How is the read along going, you guys? #EmberReadAlong We are currently in the third week and reading chapters 24 to 37 where we see lots of action, lots of revelations and some tender moments. Thank you @penguinteen for sending me these books Have you read this series? . . #emberseries #anemberintheashes #atorchagainstthenight #areaperatthegates #PenguinTeenPartner #sabaatahir #booktimistic #yafantasyfiction #booksfordays #yafantasyfiction

We’re always glad to have new fans join the Ember fandom and read the books with us for the first time!

Because this series is SOOOOOO GOOD.

Plus, it’s totally fine if you read at your own pace! No judgement from us if you end up speeding through the read 😂

#EMBERREADALONG WEEK FOUR⁣ ⁣ “Fear is only your enemy if you allow it to be.” ― Sabaa Tahir, An Ember in the Ashes⁣ ⁣ As promised, I’m focusing on bookish content midweek (although I wouldn’t be me if I didn’t slip in that if you have the option of being apolitical, then you’re privileged and you need to sort yourself out).⁣ ⁣ ANYWAY.⁣ ⁣ It’s the FINAL week of the Ember Readalong and I can not tell a lie: I finished Ember this past Saturday. I couldn’t help myself. I’m actually pretty terrible at readalongs, so am proud of myself lasting as long as I did. It’s been great to revisit this world, especially since I rarely allow myself the time to reread books anymore because my TBR is always threatening to topple on me and giving me dirty looks. This was *ME* time and I really enjoyed it this month.⁣ ⁣ I’m really excited that the Torch Against The Night readalong starts this weekend. Who’s with me next month?⁣ ⁣ QOTD: How good are you at readalongs?⁣ .⁣ .⁣ .⁣ .⁣ .⁣ #AnEmberInTheAshes #SabaaTahir #Emberlings #AReaperAtTheGates #ATorchAgainstTheNight #CreativeBookstagram #BookCommunity #BookishLove #Bookstagrammers #YAFantasyBooks #IGreads #BookAesthetic #BookEdit #BookPost #CreativeBookstagram #CozyBook #bookPic #ReadingIsLife #YABookstagram #Bookworm #ReadingIsLife #PenguinTeenPartner #BacklistBooks #BookishGirl #NewBookstagram #LoverOfBooks #bookishlife #AEITA #Booktography #Bookstagrammer #OpenBook

About An Ember in the Ashes:

Laia is a slave. Elias is a soldier. Neither is free.

Under the Martial Empire, defiance is met with death. Those who do not vow their blood and bodies to the Emperor risk the execution of their loved ones and the destruction of all they hold dear.

It is in this brutal world, inspired by ancient Rome, that Laia lives with her grandparents and older brother. The family ekes out an existence in the Empire’s impoverished backstreets. They do not challenge the Empire. They’ve seen what happens to those who do.

But when Laia’s brother is arrested for treason, Laia is forced to make a decision. In exchange for help from rebels who promise to rescue her brother, she will risk her life to spy for them from within the Empire’s greatest military academy.

There, Laia meets Elias, the school’s finest soldier—and secretly, its most unwilling. Elias wants only to be free of the tyranny he’s being trained to enforce. He and Laia will soon realize that their destinies are intertwined—and that their choices will change the fate of the Empire itself.
